# Breakout Caution & Danger X's

## What are the Yellow & Red X's?

In the Alpha Vault you will have caution and danger X's that you can toggle on within your chart settings.

| Signal | Definition |
| ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| Yellow X's | **Caution** - The Breakout may be close to being over |
| Red X's | **Danger** - The Breakout is over |

The Yellow and Red “X” signals are designed to indicate that the initial leg of a volatility squeeze breakout may be nearing completion or has potentially reached exhaustion.

This does **not** necessarily mean that the overall trend is finished or that price cannot continue moving in the same direction after a temporary pause or consolidation. Instead, these signals are intended to alert traders that the first major expansion move following the squeeze breakout may be slowing down or approaching a potential resting phase.

Because of this, some traders may choose to use the “X” signals as an opportunity to reduce risk or manage their position. Common approaches may include:

* Closing the full position and securing profits
* Taking partial profits while allowing the remaining position to continue running
* Tightening stop losses to protect gains while staying involved in the trade

These signals can also become especially useful during market conditions such as a **dead cat bounce**. A dead cat bounce is a temporary recovery or relief rally that occurs during a broader downtrend after key support levels have broken. In these situations:

1. Price breaks a support level and moves sharply lower
2. The market experiences a temporary bounce or relief rally
3. Price then resumes the larger downtrend continuation

The HTF “X” signals can help traders recognize when momentum from a breakout move may be weakening and when additional caution or risk management may be appropriate.

Overall, the HTF Yellow & Red “X” breakout warnings are intended to serve as helpful guidelines — especially for newer traders — by assisting with squeeze breakout management, trade planning, and maintaining disciplined risk management throughout volatile market conditions.

## Example

Below are examples of our Warning signals ensuring proper risk management for the beginning trader on Squeeze breakouts. The first example will show how the X's can keep the trade in profit after executing a successful Squeeze Breakout entry.

The second example below illustrates how Warning X's can keep you out of a bad trade. Hence this breakout actually became a Squeeze Fakeout after the "Reversal bar" was printed after a breakout. You can read more about these Squeeze Fakeouts in the next chapter.
